What is it?
The Xiang Sha Wan  is a new hotel, in the desert, in China! In the hotel you’ve a lot of entertainment like, sand skiing, camel rides, a cableway but also desert surfing. There is are also a lot of restaurants, with typical Mongolia food.
But, that’s not everything! For the ladies there is a shopping paradise, that’s nice, isn’t it?

 Why is it cool?
I think the desert hotel is cool, because it’s a whole new way of going on holiday. You really have an experience. The hotel looks also really cool and modern.
The concept of the Xiang Sha Wan Hotel fits in the Virtually and Involvement phase.
And then mostly in the Augmented Reality phase, I think. The Augmented reality phase means that we want to have a whole new world. A new, cool world, where we can experience a lot of new stuff.
People want their experiences to be in the different phases. So when your concept fits in a phase, people are going to like it. That’s why I think the Xiang Sha Wan hotel is cool.

 Why does it have Future Growth Potential?
I think the Xiang Sha Wan hotel has future growth potential because the concept fits in the needs of people nowadays. A lot of people are going to like the hotel, and they want to experience it. The Xiang Sha Wan hotel gives a whole new dimension to a holiday.
I think the hotel is really cool, and if I had the money, I really would like to go there and experience it!

CASTELLO POP-UP STORE: A WHOLE NEW CHEESE EXPERIENCE

What is it?
Castello is a brand of cheeses produced by Arla Foods. A variety of cheeses, also worldwide, are marketed under the Castello name. Castello was founded over 50 years ago inspired by Rasmus Tholstrup. Rasmus Tholstrup had a unique philosophy around cheese making and discovering new ways of making unique cheese.
Castello opened their first pop-up store on October the 25th. The store is based in The Hague for three months.
When you are in the store, you really have an experience. You can taste a lot of cheeses and many glasses of wine.
The pop-up store will also open his doors in cities like London, New York and Berlin.

Why is it cool?
I think the Castello pop-up store is cool, because it gives a whole new dimension to cheese. The store fits in  those two phases:

-The Living Room Society
The living room is about creating a homy ambiance. When you see pictures of the store, it’s really cosy and homy. When you are in the store it feels like a home away of home. People like to be in the store because it has such a nice ambiance.

-The Authencity phase
I think the Authencity phase fits because cheese feels like a ‘real’ product.
When you are in the store you can see how cheese is made, and that makes it really authentic.

Those phases are the needs of people nowadays, when your concept fits within the phases, a lot of people are going to like the concept. That’s why I think the Castello pop-up store is cool.

Why should a lot of people want to go to the store? I think because it’s a exclusive store, it gives a whole new dimension to cheese, and it is something new.
Like I just said, the concept of the Castello store really fits within the phases. People need those phases in a concept nowadays, that’s why they are going to like the Castello pop-up store.

ECO POP-UP STORE: SUSTAINABLE DESIGN

What is it? 
The ECO Pop-up store is a Dutch pop-up store. In 2012 the shop was meant to be a pop-up store for 2 months, but because of many positive reactions, it stayed.
The ECO Pop-up store offers a platform for sustainable design. Recycled stuff, fairtrade, handmade, it offers a lot. But the ECO Pop-up store isn’t only a store, it is also a pub, called the Sustainable Pub. But that’s not everything, they also offer workshops and organize events in the Sustainable Pub.

Why is it cool? 
I think the ECO Pop-up store is cool, because it isn’t only a store, but there is also a pub and there is a story behind the whole concept.  I think there are two phases where the ECO Pop-up store fits in: The Living Room Society and The Authencity Phase.

-The Living Room Society
The living Room society is all about creating a homy ambiance. The store decoration is really homy, people think they are at home when they are in the store. That’s why they like to be in the store.

-The Authencity Phase
I think the Authencity Phase also fits, because the story behind the concept is authentic. It is a good intitiative. People who hear the story, and like it, go to the store.

The influence of those phases are making the concept a really good one , people need those things nowadays.

Well, the story stayed because there were so many positve reactions. So, people like the concept, and really want to go to the store.
I think that’s because we see two phases in the store, that people like. This is what people want nowadays. It isn’t only a store, but it’s also a story and a pub.

COCOON TREE: A NEW CAMPING EXPERIENCE

What is it?
The Cocoon Tree Tent is a hanging tree tent. The Cocoon Tree Tent is weighing 60kg and is suspended above the ground. The tent features a built-in bed making it super comfortable. It is a modern version of a cabin in a tree.
When you are in the Cocoon Tree, you are in harmony with nature.

Why is it cool? 
I think the Cocoon Tree is cool, because it brings us a whole new experience. The phase where we can fit the Cocoon Tree in, is the Authencity phase, but also the Virtuality and Involvement phase.

-The Authencity phase
The Cocoon Tree fits perfectly in the authencity phase, because when you are in the Cocoon Tree, you are in harmony with the nature. The nature is real, and that’s why I think the Cocoon Tree fits in the authencity phase.

-The Virtuality and Involvement phase
The virtuality and involvement phase is all about creating a new world. When you are in the Cocoon Tree you are in your own world, like the site of Cocoon Tree says: ‘You will reconnect with sensations forgotten since the modern world consumes us today.

Those phases, are the needs of people nowadays. That’s why I think the Cocoon Tree is a good invention.

ARK NOVA: THE WORLDS FIRST INFLATABLE CONCERT HALL

What is it? 

The japanese architect Arata Isozaki designed in collaboration with British sculptor Anisch Kapoor the first inflatable concert hall. It started touring in Matsuhima, Japan, to then continue around areas that were devastated by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami to bring hope tot the people rebuilding their lives. It hosts world-class concerts, workshops and performances. 500 people can sit on the handcrafted benches.

Why is it cool? 

I think that the Inflatable Concert Hall is cool because, it really is an experience. It is designed to bring people hope, to help people. That makes the experience even bigger I think.
It brings a whole new dimension to a concert, and I think that people these days really want something special.
This Inflatable Concert Hall, fits by the Virtually and Involvement phase I think. People nowadays really want to see in a ‘new world’. The second phase I think the Inflatable Concert Hall fits in, is the Authencity phase, because we only want things that are ‘real’. This Concert Hall is designed to help people, who are rebuilding their lives after an earthquake and tsunami. The story behind the concert hall is a nice story, people are going to like the story, and then they want to see how the concert hall is looking.
